The Evolution of E-Pop

Our band E-Pop put out a little live CD last Sunday. I’m listening to it right now, it’s pretty good for a live CD. It’s humbling and exciting at the same time to think about how God guided our band and in his creative grace, allowed this music to come together over the last year or so.

I started forming the band last fall as an offshoot from the now-defunct “Acoustic Band” Pastor Tim Smith handed off leadership of the band to me; the original concept of the band being a folkey-acoustic-backporch-jam-sesh. I would steal musicians from the other Mars Hill bands, but I soon realized this was a major stress on the other bands. As weekly experiments with band members, styles, arrangements, and songs progressed, the Acoustic Band morphed into E-Pop. (more…)
